Su Qingrou and Jin Zhengnan's Courtship and Protection

CEO's Beloved Honey Girl

Su Qingrou and Jin Zhengnan's Courtship and Protection is a developing bond built from his decade-long affection for her and his practical care during her illness. Jin Zhengnan becomes both a confidant and a prospective suitor, but the relationship remains unsettled: Su Qingrou's feelings for Lin Yanche complicate his pursuit, and the evidence shows courtship and closeness rather than a confirmed marriage or lasting partnership.

A confidant at a distance

When Su Qingrou fails to answer repeated calls from her younger sister, Su Xiangwan turns to Jin Zhengnan to ask whether her sister has gone to the hospital. His reply is measured rather than alarmed. He says Su Qingrou is not a child, and suggests that even concern for her can become a shackle if it denies her freedom. That answer establishes the character of his care: he is attentive to her, but argues against treating her as someone who must be watched or controlled.

Jin Zhengnan tells Su Xiangwan that he is about to leave the hospital. Before doing so, he intends to confess his feelings to Su Qingrou. He recognizes that she may have little regard for him romantically, yet is prepared to speak despite expecting rejection. His willingness to make the confession gives the relationship a clear direction, but not a settled outcome: at this point, the evidence establishes his pursuit and his awareness that it may not be returned.

A long-standing pursuit meets resistance

Jin Zhengnan's feelings are not a sudden response to Su Qingrou's vulnerability. In a confrontation with Lin Yanche, he says he has had a crush on her for more than a decade. He also credits Lin's conduct with making Su Qingrou see his kindness and agree to let him pursue her. His account frames the courtship as a change in her openness toward him, not as proof that she has already chosen him as a partner.

The same confrontation makes the obstacle explicit. Lin Yanche dismisses Jin Zhengnan's prospects and predicts that Su Qingrou will not marry him. Jin Zhengnan accepts the challenge rather than retreating. Their exchange turns his private affection into a contest with Lin Yanche, but it does not establish that Su Qingrou has promised marriage. The distinction matters: Jin Zhengnan is pursuing her, while Lin Yanche tries to define the likely ending for her.

Jin's resolve also persists despite his own injuries. He tells Lin Yanche that his body is not the only thing hurting; his heart aches over Su Qingrou as well. Even if he loses their confrontation, he says, it will not give him satisfaction. His words join physical injury and romantic frustration, showing how deeply the rivalry has become bound up with his concern for her.

Care during Su Qingrou's illness

Jin Zhengnan's attachment appears in practical acts of care as well as declarations. After Su Xiangwan has suffered a high fever and is recovering, Jin arrives with a bowl of porridge. He tells her that Su Qingrou has been so worried about her sister that she has gone without sleep for two days. The detail links Jin's presence to the sisters' crisis: he is close enough to observe Su Qingrou's worry, and he is there to help while the family regroups.

Su Xiangwan asks Jin to take Su Qingrou to a guest room so she can rest, apologizing for the strain her illness has caused. Jin carries Su Qingrou away. Su Xiangwan reads their closeness as a sign that they may already be together, but that is her interpretation, not confirmation of an official relationship. The scene nevertheless makes their intimacy visible through care, proximity, and the assumption that Jin can help look after Su Qingrou.

Their apparent closeness becomes a point of comparison in later conversation. Lin Yanche tells Su Xiangwan to learn from Su Qingrou and Jin Zhengnan, presenting their flirtation as ordinary behavior between a couple. His teasing reinforces the impression that they are moving toward one another, while still leaving the status of their relationship undefined.

The unresolved triangle

Su Qingrou's connection to Lin Yanche remains the central complication. Su Xiangwan urges her sister to be honest with Jin Zhengnan if she cannot let Lin Yanche go and intends to maintain a relationship with him. In her view, leaving the situation unclear would allow Lin Yanche to feel secure in his conduct toward Su Qingrou. Her advice recognizes Jin Zhengnan as someone whose pursuit deserves candor, not merely as a convenient source of comfort while Su Qingrou remains emotionally attached elsewhere.

The relationship therefore holds two truths at once: Jin Zhengnan has loved Su Qingrou for years and offers attentive, visible care, while Su Qingrou's unresolved bond with Lin Yanche prevents that devotion from guaranteeing a future together. The narrative repeatedly allows other characters to read the pair as a couple, but distinguishes that public impression from a definite commitment. Their courtship is marked by hope and loyalty on Jin Zhengnan's side, and by an unanswered question about Su Qingrou's choice.
